Founded in Culture

One Degree Founder, Kate Baxter is an innovator, creative director and serial entrepreneur focusing on human-centered inventions at the intersection of culture, nature and technology. Her previous organisations she's founded all provide a platform to under-served communities, such as Five Fifty Five, The Children’s Board, Hey Bulldog and now, One Degree

Kate’s DNA stems from her work across continents, working in clean tech and environmental policy for the UN and multiple governments (Director of US-CHINA EcoPartnership), Lightsource-BP (Head of Strategy), Ellipsis Health (Consultant), and more. Kate is currently progessing patents in Human Experience (HX) Design and Technology.

Underpinned by Technology

Paul Wood, Technology Advisor (contractable), holds seven patents in Augmented Reality, particularly in holographic illusions, making him free to operate and develop several more technologies with Kate at One Degree, drawing on 12 years of experience pioneering specialist technical solutions. Trusted by major organisations including Coca-Cola, the British Government, and Madame Tussauds, Paul has contributed to high-profile global projects such as the FIFA World Cup Trophy Tour and is now poised to help lead One Degree forward with its current technologies and opportunities.

Curating for Community

Victoria Broackes is a curator and cultural One Degree advisor (contractable), and is passionate about making culture more accessible and engaging across borders. Perhaps best known for her work at the V&A, she was Senior Curator of Theatre & Performance and created blockbuster exhibitions including David Bowie Is (2013-2028, seen by over 2 million visitors worldwide, and the fastest ticket ever sold at the V&A), Pink Floyd: Their Mortal Remains, and You Say You Want a Revolution? These blockbuster shows fused music, culture and design innovation, reaching global audiences and redefining the role and abilities of cultural events in shaping public discourse. She recently directed the London Design Biennale, forging global partnerships at the intersection of design, culture and innovation.
